Flushing the Cooling System

Over time, the water channels of the radiator and the engine are narrowed or even completely clogged with scale or deposits, which reduces the efficiency of the cooling system. In this case, the coolant gets dark rusty color, and require flushing of the entire system. With strong contamination may require flushing counter.

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Disconnect the upper radiator hose, then insert the water hose and flush the radiator circulating flow until the water flowing from the drain hole is clear and transparent. For best washing disconnect the lower radiator hose.
  2. In severe blockages should be rinsed in countercurrent. To do this, remove the radiator, turn it over and insert the hose into its outlet. Rinse until the water is flowing from the filler hole is clear.
  3. The engine, too, should be rinsed. To do this, remove the thermostat. The hose into the water channel leading from the thermostat housing into the cylinder head, and to continue washing until the water flowing from the drain tube and the cylinder of the lower hose is clear. Also, disconnect and flush hoses to the carburetor or intake manifold (depending on the design).
  4. Chemical cleaners should be used only as a last resort. Regular replacement of the coolant prevents contamination of the system.
